Re: Definition of "Tactile"
I am not sure what the point of this is. Are you trying to define an analogy for different types or levels of tactility? Are you searching for a unified definition of tactility? Or are you critiquing definitions of tactility put forth by others?

IBM Model F122 Restoration
I recently bought an IBM Model F122 off of eBay, and it was thoroughly abused. I posted a topic in the main forum in regard to a faulty switch column. After it was resolved, I decided to post the restoration process for everyone to see. This was my first time restoring a Model F. It was fun and I ...

Re: Model F122 Column Issue
So after taking the PCB off the back plate, I put some Kapton tape on the back of the PCB along the capsense pads and the trace of the column in question all the way to the ribbon cable. Just reassembled it and tried the keys and it all works now. There we go.

Re: Model F122 Column Issue
So I took the thing apart again and took the PCB off of the back plate. No signs of visible damage, but then again I may not have the best eye for what to look for.
I did notice that in this restoration video: https://youtu.be/Zl7AMp7Cffs?t=1393 at the 23:00 minute mark, there is a plastic ...

I will say that after the 4th time reassembling the thing, I have my clamp technique down. Probably took me 45 seconds to get all the clamps on and to push the back plate and barrel plate together.

Re: Model F122 Column Issue
The problem could be where the ribbon cable connects to the pcb. Have you done a continuity test from the ribbon cable to one of the pads on the bad column?

Model F122 Column Issue
I have an F122 that I'm restoring. I have everything pretty much completed. Everything is reassembled and tested. Everything works perfectly (I'm actually typing this post on it) except for an entire column of keys . The column I am referring to is this one:

The RT-102 is made by NMB and is NMB Dome With Slider. The Sagitta is made by Chicony and is a rubber Dome board.

BTC dome with slider boards like the ones for packaged bell that can be had pretty cheap. They are so snappy and feel almost identical to BKE redux domes. I love em.

Great deal relative to the gold badge omnikey 102, which was advertised at $99 in PC Magazine 1989.

I use it in macros a lot for formatting, inserting fields, etc. in various windows programs such as word and Visio. However I don’t use the actual key directly and have it mapped to something else. Not sure what that falls under

If we're talking MX compatible switches, the realm of possibilities greatly expands.

Re: Which are the best alps clicky switches?
I would love to put some amber alps in my omnikey ultra t. The white alps that came in it are trashed (most of them bind badly on off-center key presses). I’ll probably swap them out for salmon alps at some point since they are more reasonably priced and not too bad to get a hold of.
