The name may go. There's still significant scepticism that there are linear and tactile versions, but the evidence is clearly mounting. A number of people now have reported keyboards where the Futaba clicky switches don't click; ascaii has one, and I'm hoping to get my hands on it and dissect a switch to see how it differs from the clicky version.

I have 2 keyboards with futaba switches which aren’t at all tactile, but do make an obnoxious pinging noise (like the one in the video) at the bottom (which switches come in 3 colors of inverse-cross-mount). I didn’t realize there were any other kind. If someone sends me a “clicky” futaba switch, or has a lead on a known clicky one on ebay for cheap, I’d be glad to verify that they’re different.

The switch is very smooth with a deep click.

The force curve of what we are assuming to be the old version is shown on this page:

You can see that it's very smooth with a tactile event in the middle. You definitely feel it, so if you don't get a deep click or feel a bump, then indeed you must have a linear version.

Okay, it worked when I used Safari, but not when I used Chrome.

Futaba on a wooden floor sounds like a good accompaniment to a voodoo ritual.

That won't be the first thing that mysteriously doesn't work in Chrome. Last time I checked they even managed to get the keyboard access of <select> elements badly wrong. I'm also surprised that their "address" bar doesn't match page titles from browser history yet. How it can fail to download a WAV file, I have no idea.
